Installers are essential, they’re on the tools already and have so much knowledge about customers, pipes, homes, heating, yet their often the least listened to when we talk about decarbonising heat.

Is this part of our ingrained classism? Lack of respect for dirtier work?

How best can installers be supported and encouraged to be leaders in the transition to renewables?

Listen to me and Lysette Hacking talk about our expreiences as part of the 2.4% of plumbers who are women on BBC Radio 4’s Women’s Hour.

We also discuss plumbing training, the impact of the ongoing #austerity programme, and that many people feel unsafe with the traditional trades offer. Let’s make access to mundane essential services more equitable

Sovay joined a heating panel for a webinar with Energy Catapult Systems  discussing diversity in the heating sector, with Leah Robson of Your Energy Your Way, Jo Alsop of The Heating Hub and Rob Hargreaves and Vivien Kizilcec of ECS.
